Filling the space
Lacuna was formed when three musicians Jo Taylor, Sarah Jane Rimmer and Malcolm Thacker, each found themselves with a musical space in their lives to be filled. Jo and Sarah, who had previously performed together as The Sandersons, had been pursuing individual projects, Jo leading online singing workshops and Sarah Jane releasing a solo EP. A chance meeting at a folk music festival revealed that Malcolm Thacker, a familiar name on the South London folk scene, was looking for a new venture and the trio was formed. Praised for their three part harmonies and intricate arrangements of clarinet, banjo and guitar, Lacuna’s original songs have been warmly welcomed across venues in their debut year.
